Alain Clappier graduated in 1989 with a diploma in applied mathematics from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (France). He then served as a research assistant at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), where he earned a PhD in numerical modeling of air pollution in 1998. From 1998 to 2008, he led a research group at EPFL focused on urban climate modeling and air quality management. In 2008, he became a Professor at the University of Strasbourg (France), where he expanded his research to include the development of energy strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance air quality.
